Mexico - Mexican Institute of Infertility

The Mexican Institute of Infertility is a multi-disciplinary establishment for men and women experiencing difficulties with reproduction.  We offer the most modern treatments in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) with IVF and laboratory-investigations of andrology and genetics.  Our specialties include gynaecology and obstetrics, surgery, urology, andrology, endocrinology, embryology, genetics, biology and anaesthesia, as well as nutrition and counselling.

Making the decision to go to a clinic for assisted reproduction is not easy. We tend to get visited by men and women between 35 and 40 years old, with more than three years seeking pregnancy unsuccessfully. Usually they have already tried traditional methods of controlling the basal temperature, uterine lining, and so on, but without a positive result.  Pursuing pregnancy in this way (without ART) can sometimes be a long process that unfortunately does not stop the biological clock from ticking, nor the mother’s age from increasing.  As time passes, it decreases the success rate of

achieving pregnancy with a woman’s own oocytes, and therefore can increase the anxiety that couples face.

On a couple’s first visit to the Mexican Institute of Infertility, their case is assesses by highly skilled professionals in order to form a personalized strategy that addresses the couple’s unique situation.   To do this we collect all relevant information (while aiming not to repeat past tests) and analyse and evaluate their medical history.  ART specialists will aim to discern whether the problem of infertility is of male or female origin.  Sometimes there is incompatibility between the two or there are two causes of infertility, whereas in 15% of the cases the cause is unknown.

We typically begin by examining both the man and the woman.  The examination of the woman is aimed at assessing the function of the ovaries and the anatomical integrity of the reproductive system through rigorous analysis.  For men, we conduct a seminograma test, which measures the concentration of sperm, their mobility and morphology, and evidence of possible alterations.

Our medical team then develops a diagnosis and treatment plan to follow.  We also advise couples to try to decrease stress and anxiety, as these can negatively affect success rates for treatments undergone.  The road is sometimes long and emotional, but we will make sure that every aspect of ART science is working for you, to maximize the likelihood of a successful pregnancy and delivery of a healthy baby.

The Mexican Institute of Infertility has locations in four different cities: Guadalajara - the second largest city in Mexico, Ensenada - just 70 miles south of the US boarder (a 90-minute drive from San Diego), Mazatlan - the closest resort to the United States, and Torreon, which is in the La Laguna region of Mexico.
